It is scheduled to be hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and India.[1] It is India’s fourth time hosting the women’s World Cup, after the 1978, 1997, and 2013 editions, and Sri Lanka’s first time hosting the event. This will be the last time that the tournament will have eight teams.

Australia are the defending champions, having won their seventh title in 2022. In June 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the tournament will take place from 30 September to 2 November 2025.[3]
